James Hastings is a London-based actor, musician and singing/instrumental teacher. He trained at Rose Bruford College and the Royal Academy of Music.
Jamesβ performing credits include: work in Londonβs West End on βCabaret at the Kit Kat Clubβ and βStephen Sondheimβs Old Friendsβ memorial concert; βBoundless as the Seaβ and βMiss Littlewoodβ for the Royal Shakespeare Company on board Cunardβs Queen Mary 2; and shows βThe Trenchβ and βUnited Queendomβ with Olivier award-winning theatre company Les Enfants Terribles. He also appeared in season 2 of βFlackβ for Hat Trick/CASM Films.
In 2023, James released his debut EP as a singer-songwriter: βGAIAβ, adding βa significant voice to the UKβs blossoming environmental folk scene.β As a multi-instrumentalist with an eclectic musical background, he has played in all manner of musical groups/settings across the UK and internationally.
As a teacher, James has worked for music education companies Mini Mozart & Practice Pal, in addition to building his own thriving private practice. He is also currently a guest lecturer on the performing arts degree courses at both Laine Theatre Arts (singing) and Mountview (piano).
